One Mish Too Many Ideas

I’ve got a secret to tell.

My dream has always been to be a writer. There’s just something about having my space to share my thoughts and ideas. It’s irresistible. To be a writer or journalist must be the most extraordinary life.

But as a product of my generation, I watched newspapers lose readership to 24-hour breaking news on screens. It seemed that I had romanticised a career that was slowly dying. Of course, I would come across the odd blog here and there that I would find appealing, but nothing compared to the prestige of a newspaper.

Even so, I wrote for my high school magazine and even launched a one (the title did not age well): “Pandemic” in university, when there was noticeably no magazine accessible to English-speakers. Both were short-lived hobbies, and, if I am to be honest with you, I spent more time thinking about and discussing writing than actually doing any of it myself.

I’ve had an on-and-off again relationship with journaling. I kept a diary as a teenager; the style of writing can be best described as fictional journaling. I always had the suspicion that my mother was secretly reading my entries, even though I had locked it with a key I was the only one who had a copy of. My paranoia only grew when I discovered how easily I could pick that lock with a pen.

Anyhow, what is fictional journaling, you may ask? Well, I would bluntly confess in my diary everything that I felt, but I would change the names and places in the story. Just to make sure that, in the hypothetical case, my mother was indeed reading it, she wouldn’t know which of my friends’ mothers to call and inform that her child was smoking. Now that is pure genius! It’s a chaotic read; I myself struggle to understand what is real and what is fiction.

As an “adult”, I have continuously sporadically maintained a journal. A bit less paranoia here, fewer locks, and close to no fiction! Writing is how I learn and engage with the world. For years, I have kept it to myself and wondered how I could share this practice. At some points, it’s time to stop wondering about what that would be like and actually start doing it.

So this is me finally doing it.

I have wanted to start a blog for a long time, but I could never really decide what it would be about. My expertise and my interests are too broad, ever-changing and evolving, I couldn’t really pick one theme to cover. That hasn’t changed, but I am One Mish, and I have Too Many interests, and this is what this blog will also reflect.

This is what you can expect from me.

What I create
I’ve always felt that being creative is a core part of my identity, and I try to incorporate it in my life as much as I can. In 2026, I set myself a challenge: to create art every single day. This blog will follow that journey. I’ll also highlight artists who inspire me and occasionally dive deeper into their work and creative processes.

What I’m working on
My professional life is an interesting combination of marketing, creativity, and hospitality. I work with brands, bars, and restaurants, which means I’m often close to what’s happening in the city, new openings, collaborations, and events worth checking out. From time to time, I’ll share observations from inside that world, what I’m learning from it, and some behind-the-scenes look at what my work actually looks like.

What I think
At university, I studied psychology, law, economics, and entrepreneurship. Subjects I genuinely love and wish were a bigger part of my life (why do we only get 24 hours in a day?). So this space will also be an opportunity to revisit those ideas and explore how they connect to real life. This will also include reflections on the political and social issues that shape the world around us. I’m not a journalist, but I do feel a responsibility to talk about the topics that keep me up at night.

What I’m consuming
I consume a lot of culture — books, television, films, podcasts, music. I’ll share what I’m reading, watching, and listening to, along with thoughts, recommendations, and the occasional critique.

I hope this blog becomes more than just a place to post ideas. I want it to grow into a small community of curious, thoughtful people. I want to curate a space for creativity, conversation, and the things that shape how we see the world.

Ooh, and did I mention that I’ll be posting weekly?
